From 1970 Mr. Schaedler worked as an independent consultant for aid projects in Africa. At the same time he published on African art and organized exhibitions in Munich, Leipzig and Vienna. At the age of 47 he studied ethnology and received his doctorate in 1986 with the thesis "Weaving mill in sub-Saharan Africa" at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, where he also taught African art. He has published numerous publications on his special field, such as the "Lexikon Afrikanische Kunst und Kultur", the "Masken der Welt" or "Götter Geister Ahnen - Afrikanische Skulpturen in deutschen Privatsammlungen". He was also an expert in tribal art at the Munich auction houses Ketterer and Neumeister for many years. In 2009 he had his extensive collection of over 400 lot numbers auctioned off.
